NATURALIST, COMMUNICATOR, EDUCATOR
Megan Emmett is the founder of African Resource.

Since leaving school, Megan has worked in the wildlife industry, a consequence of childhood ambitions. She began her career by completing a B.Tech degree in Nature Conservation at Saasveld (Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University). During her studies she spent time working in the well-known Hluhluwe-Umfolozi Game Reserve and in various parks within the North West Parks Board.

Subsequently her resume has included a diversity of fields within the industry. She has worked as a researcher, photographer, writer and assistant producer in the wildlife television industry producing documentaries for channels such as National Geographic and Animal Planet.

She worked as a field guide in the private safari industry in the greater Kruger Park area attaining FGASA level 3 status and contributing to small research initiatives. She then progressed to become a nationally accredited field guide’s trainer and assessor in the Lowveld teaching students the skills of naturalism and guest service.

Her passion is academia and writing and Megan has always enjoyed the editorial interpretation of her experiences and has contributed regularly to magazines such as Africa Geographic both in writing and photography. She has also authored / co-authored two wildlife books.

Megan has had broad exposure to numerous different parts of South Africa through her studies and profession and has travelled extensively visiting many other southern and eastern African countries most especially Zambia's Luangwa Valley and Kenya's Masai Mara. Nothing thrills Megan more than sharing her knowledge and love of the natural environment with others.
